    Visit Wyoming

Are you looking for something to do this weekend?

How about taking a visit to one of our great state parks here in Wyoming?

Sometimes Wyoming is overlooked as a vacation destination, but we here at Sonny’s RVs know just how much Wyoming has to offer. With stunning views and plenty of outdoor recreation activities, Wyoming is a great place to take your next vacation.

Here are a list of great state parks you can visit this month to break out of your daily routine and go camping!

    Hot Springs State Park

Along the Big Horn River you will find Hot Springs State Park, a park full of beauty and plenty of activities. More than 8,000 gallons of mineral water flow over the terrace every 24 hours at a temperature of 135 degrees Fahrenheit.

One of the park’s unique features is a free bath house where the water is maintained at 104 degrees for free therapeutic bathing.

In addition, Hot Springs park has around 6.2 miles of accessible hiking trails, a full-service park with comfort stations, fishing and boat docks.

The Hot Springs State Park bison herd are also fed here in the fall and winter to insure good health.

If you do see bison they should be viewed ONLY while you remain in your vehicle. Never approach the bison or any wild animal you may encounter.

Another unique feature is a suspension bridge that offers a unique view of the Bighorn River and mineral terrace.

All in al if you want to experience the beauty that is Wyoming, come to Hot Springs!

    Fort Bridger State Historic Site

While Hot Springs Park definitely has the views, Fort Bridger State Park and Historic Site combines beauty with history.

At Fort Bridger you will find restored historical buildings from the military time period, a reconstruction of the trading post operated by Jim Bridger and an interpretive archeological site for your viewing pleasure.

In addition there is also a museum that contains artifacts from various time periods that is open to the public for a small admission fee. Here you will find various artifacts, weapons and other items that were important.

If you want to take home a keepsake there are gift shops in both the museum and the reconstructed trading post.

    Guernsey State Park

Guernsey State Park is full of campgrounds for you and your crew!

With seven campgrounds that all include comfort stations, picnic tables, fire grills, drinking water  and trailer dump stations, Guernsey State Park is the place to camp in Wyoming.

The park includes an extensive network of trails that offers amazing scenic views of the park, reservoir and dam. Most of the trails are moderately demanding so bring your hiking boots!

If you are looking for a fun activity this weekend, Guernsey State Park and the Tri-City Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting the "Anything That Floats" family fun race this Saturday, June 21, from 10 a.m. to noon at Guernsey State Park.

Do you like to build things? How about trying out your invention on the water?

This year, there will be two divisions in the “Anything that floats race”, the "homemade" category and the canoe category.

The entry fee is $10 per team, and participants may enter either or both categories. Watercraft must keep a two person team completely out of the water and must be paddle-driven.
