    Winter Destinations in Wyoming

    It’s a shame that so many people feel obligated to flee to the southern states during the winter season. The cold isn’t so bad! In fact, here in Wyoming there are a few places that are actually accentuated by the snow. Here are 3 places you've got to visit this time of year.

    Obviously, winter is the best time of year for any ski resort.That said, there’s literally no better time to visit one of the nation’s most highly-acclaimed resorts. Since Jackson Hole is a ski resort, it maximizes the cold weather and snow, and consequently is packed full with fun winter activities! In addition to skiing and snowboarding, try ice skating, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, sleigh rides, winter bike tours and more! The resort features daily events and happenings on the resort’s events page, including activities for kids of all ages! There are countless fun wintertime opportunities at Jackson Hole.

    Imagine overlooking the world-famous Yellowstone landscape nestled beneath a blanket of snow. While Yellowstone is most frequently visited during the warmer months, this park continues to welcome visitors year round. In fact, winter tourism has become increasingly popular over the past 80 years. Yellowstone offers specific winter trips, including a winter photography tour hosted by Natural Habitat Adventures. As you plan your winter visit to Yellowstone, be sure to research the "winter use" for the park. There are several resources to help you make your visit the trip of a lifetime.


    National Museum of Wildlife Art

    The National Museum of Wildlife Art hosts nearly 100,000 visitors on an annual basis. To say the very least, this is one site that is a must-see. This award-winning museum is located less than 5 miles from Jackson Hole and overlooks the 25,000 acres of the National Elk Refuge. This art museum is family-friendly as it notes that 10,000 of its visitors each year are children. The museum features a library, cafe, and kids center in addition to 14 different galleries, namely featuring a strong collection of 19th and 20th century American art. In addition to the traditional indoor galleries, the museum also features an outdoor sculpture gallery and walking trail. Go see for yourself how the snow can accentuate the wildlife sculptures!
